You’re not going to be able to tell the full impact of COVID until 2021-2022 or so. Covid has pulled forward a lot of deaths. It’s not like it’s out here killing people with 30+ years to live on any regular basis.

I go to stores and not wear a mask. People look at me but a mask isn't stopping shite and I always forget one so it's life like normal for me.

Had a greeter at Home Depot hand me a mask yesterday and said to put it on. I shoved it in my pocket and kept on. A cop was there too and didn't say anything. It's ridiculous. I may get COVID but it won't be because I didn't wear a mask.

I just had a situation at the stop and rob where I go get an occasional diet coke, I had no mask on, I don't wear one, sorry but I don't follow the government blindly. Especially JBE's stupid arse. So, this democrat in in line behind me, asks "So. you don't wear a mask?" I replied no. He looked at me with his mask below his nose and says that's all right soon we going to take care of people like you? I did not reply, not worth the effort but seriously threatening people over a mask that doesn't work What the frick!

ETA: I suspect he was a democrat as he had a feels and heels shirt on...

Putting on a mask is life changing?

Yes it is.

The gov't, through no peer reviewed scientific studies, determined that people should be forced to wear an extra piece of clothing on their face that has never been required in recent memory. We added masks to our retail store this year. Masks have been a number one seller in terms of volume and margin. So, yes. It is life changing. Not sure how you could argue otherwise.

That's because I've argued this countless times already, and have determined that there is no convincing someone who chooses to remain ignorant.

But can I just say that I find it highly amusing that I'm always accused of being scared or a pussy or "selling fear" every time I try to explain reality. What kind of dumbass logic is that? I'm not telling you to lock yourself inside, I'm just telling you what's happening. I go out into the world knowing what's out there. You seemingly have to convince yourself that there are no threats before you brave it out in public.

Friends, these masks make all the difference in the world. If we had mass usage of them we would squash this pandemic!

Okay, let’s go with this. If what you say is true, how then is it possible in the very country that developed this thing, who has 100% compliance at the threat of death or imprisonment, can it be possible that that had not one, but TWO rounds of this? Remember SARS ? This is SARS again. They all wearing the crap outta mask and still have it, got it, started it, spread it, etc.
Signed,
Not a sheep. Not wearing a mask.

Cheap masks don't stop microscopic viruses.

Trust me. I have a Minor in Microbiology.

First off, trust me I totally get and agree with the political theatre and charades we are playing with this virus.

BUT, if everyone wears a mask then how can I RECEIVE the virus through my eyes?

Someone that ate or sneezed into their hand earlier still has particles on their fingers they then touch something in a store that you too later touch then eventually rub your eye.

ETA: Washing hands >>>> a mask

We also haven't experienced hundreds of thousands of excess deaths any other time in recent memory. I wonder if there's a correlation.

You're not sure how I could argue that? Can you at least try to understand that perhaps you have a much, MUCH lower bar set for what qualifies as "life changing" than others do? It's a subjective thing, not much to argue about. Some people are just a lot more sensitive than others about some things.

Have we, though? The uptick in overall deaths is all but non-existent because they have classified everything as COVID.

The only people I was somewhat concerned about is my older parents. They both tested positive on Monday and said it similar to a sinus infection.

No, I'm pointing how how it changed my life this year. A worthless cloth mask went from something I never considered to being the number one seller in terms of volume and margin at the store we own. How's that not life changing?

Spanish Flu immediately comes to mind. H1N1 would be more recent. No mask mandates for either although I've seen pics of people at football games wearing the ineffective cloth masks for the Spanish Flu.

Ignoring how deaths are classified, total weekly deaths from all causes in the US are up.

As of week 40 of this year, the TTM total deaths were 3.19 million. The TTM deaths at week 40 of 2019 were 2.88 million, 2.89m in 2018, 2.84 in 2017, 2.75 in 2016, and 2.75 in 2015. Deaths are generally expected to increase every year given that the population is increasing and getting older, but not at the 10+% rate that we see this year.

Bruh. The change in mentality in this country over a 4-5 month period is beyond belief.

The amount of sheeple as you describe, and the amount of people who want daddy government to take over and protect them is depressing.

Not sure how we ever get back to normal with the "new normal" mindset of so many people. Truly disheartening.

Because it's just a mask. I don't really know how to explain it to you, but this just does not change my life in the slightest. YMMV.

Ok, well, you said "in recent memory", which I took to mean you were specifically excluding the spanish flu, because there were definitely mask mandates in many areas around the country for that. Some people were arrested and fined for not wearing them.
