What's the big deal?
In this country? Not really a big deal. Easily quarantined and doesn't spread very quickly. Sucks for the people who get it, but unlike the African countries, we can easily quarantine it and people here actually believe that it exists.

It isn't easily treatable. Management is mainly supportive. IV hydration, maintaining airway, and protecting against other infections.

Ebola is self-limiting over a 2-week period. In the absence of a medication to treat the virus, supportive therapy is all you need. Add pressors and isolation to your supportive therapy, and you've got a significantly better chance of surviving here in the US than in Africa, where central lines, pressors, and trained nursing staff aren't commonplace.

So should I just kill myself now before the eventual outbreak destroys this country?

No, but you should kill yourself before you breed more ignorance.

Would you call it "easily treatable" though?

He wasn't symptomatic then. Ebola is only contagious when host is symptomatic.

Curable was not the right word, but treatable is. And so is contained. Sorry I'm not going to freak out about one random case of ebola.

However, it can remain detectable in semen up to 3 months post recovery, so recovered patients are advised to remain abstinent or where protection during that time.

Is that the issue here? Yea, freaking out is stupid. This won't become an outbreak.

Ok. Or sneeze in public at the time he was becoming symptomatic. The point was, the danger in the US lies in it being transmitted prior to diagnosis.

What about "chances for full recovery are quite good where supportive therapy and trained medical staff are readily available"?

I'm not in the med community, but a relative is an infection control specialist in Atlanta and that has been her indication to me. Also seems to be the general tenor of the CDC.
