Note the egg timer + small battery launch triggers on the ground in front of the launch rails.
Simple and effective... but if you accidentally kick one of those things and "ring the bell" you better run. On sand no less.

I can be talked into assisting Israel in air strikes with either cruise missles or F35s when they begin their invasion
It’s not going to happen and Israel doesn’t need our help to take on Hamas and even Hezbollah at the same time.

Not sure how they figured that taking thousands of hostages and slaughtering people on camera wasn’t going to get a response.
I think you’re missing his point, which I believe is very valid.
Hamas likely planned this expecting half of it to collapse because Israel would have SOME defenses. When almost all of the Hamas terrorists made it through untouched then slaughtered military posts and damn near entire towns without resistance, they surprised themselves. I’m sure some of the more intelligent militants knew they made it this far so they had to continue inflicting as much damage as possible, while at the same time knowing they’re about to get their arse kicked 10x harder.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Iranian security officials helped plan Hamas' surprise attack on Israel and gave the green light for the assault at a meeting in Beirut last Monday.
What evidence does the U.S. have of that being true?
John Kirby:
Right now, none. We're looking very hard to see if there is corroborating evidence that proves that Iran was a participant in these attacks, but we just haven't seen it.

Reminds me of that NOLA youtube video that was posted on tOT today. Low IQ idiots just itching to die. The only difference is the low IQ people in NOLA have a neighbor to put all their energy in destroying so they destroy each other.

Man, Hamas really had a hard on for that music festival. I thought it was more a target of opportunity as they were moving through.
But it had to have been planned because the location is miles from anything and they sent a lot of guys there, sealed off the roads, and stayed in that area for at least a couple of hours. Many victims that had been hiding came out only to find them still there and were killed or captured. It just seems more deliberate, purposeful and premeditated than I initially thought.

If I remember right, this deployment was scheduled before this past weekend's events.
From what I read the past couple days, that is correct. My question is: Do we normally have 2 carrier strike groups in the Mediterranean during normal rotations? Or is this some unprecedented event based on what is happening in Israel?
I know there has been multiple CSG is the Med for joint training exercises before, but is this the first time they've been sent due to real world conditions? Maybe it isn't, but I can't recall any time where they have been so blatant in announcing it to the world.

Also have to take into account that it was a Jewish holiday and places like the IDF base they ran through would be short staffed due to the holiday.

Very sad what is going on. From the good guys perspective you always hope the innocent lives lost when you fix the problem are a sacrifice to prevent even more future innocent lives lost. If you can take out Hamas the benefits will be immeasurable for generations in Israel and Gaza. But it’s a big if and the math gets fuzzy really quick.

9 times out of 10 Med Carrier deployments to med overlap some for many reasons(quick transit via suez to camel station, things going wrong in transit or CQ / deployment quals once the Bg leaves home) also for the past 45 years - med has been the most active "zone" for carrier battle groups(save for the gulf wars. this is by no means unprecedented. and this was planned long before this.... Now if another carrier heads from Ca or Japan.... that is rare. I know my deployment we overlapped 2 months front end and back end with other carrier battle groups in the med... and it was spicy.

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.
The way its been framed in some places, it's as if things were really escalating by moving the Ford closer to Israel from the western Med. And that the Eisenhower was coming on its normal deployment to essentially build up assets. Seemed like an unnecessary escalation in some articles and a part of normal operations in some.
I appreciate the clarity.

I just can’t see the reasoning for the administration to come out so quickly and fairly adamantly that Iran had nothing to do with this.

Did Qatar's threat to "stop supplying gas to the world" if the bombing of Gaza didn't stop get covered in this thread?
