Is Working In A "Cubicle Environment" Unhealthy?

Does anyone think that working in a work place in which there are a bunch of cubicles and offices unhealthy? Just being in a closed in area with gray walls for at least 8 hrs 5 times a week.. Do you think it has an impact physically and mentally?

I don't have a window and it kind of messes with me sometimes. I have to get up and walk around outside every hour or two.

As one of "new girls" i always hate when those cubicle guys always try to walk over to my desk and man-splain things to me. Its like ewww, no!

I’ve only worked in place like that and they mandated you take a walk around the building ( either inside or out ) every two hours.

Just started on a client site this week who has tall cubes. It’s been probably 10 years since I’ve worked in an environment like this and it absolutely sucks. Everybody chats on instant messenger, nobody gets up to talk to anybody else, it is a very unhealthy and uncollaborative environment. This engagement is only two months and I’m counting down the days to get the frick out of there

I’ve never worked in one but I’d probably wanna kms more each day if I were in that position. Only way I think it would work for me is if everyone on the floor took shrooms together at the office like 4 times a years.

I worked somewhere where this was the #1 way of communicating. People with cubicles next to each other would literally communicate with each other using IM.
When I first started working there, the person on side of me IM'd me and I responded verbally. It was just a simple answer. They sent me an IM telling me to please respond to IMs with an IM.
To me it just seems weird when you can literally easily have a conversation with that person...
