Who issued the check? Who was the check made out to?

I doubt one person wrote this guy a check for stump grinding work.

If legit he must have had a company with others working for him (who he was paying cash) and he was working for somebody.

Are you talking about a scissor lift or a boom lift with a basket? Bc if it was a boom lift, Id love to know where you rented one for less than 600 bucks delivered and returned.

Last year I was trimming some branches on the huge live oak in my back yard. I was on a 6' aluminum ladder with my small chain saw. The base of the limb was about 6 inches wide, so I made a cut about 3 inches deep on the bottom. Then I proceeded to cut from the top. Before I cut all the way through, the damn thing swung down and knocked the ladder out from under me. I fell sideways from about 4' up and landed on my side with the chainsaw about an inch from my dome. Cut the shite out of my finger on something. My wife just about peed her pants laughing after she realized I wasn't hurt too bad. (Thanks honey)

As I was laying on the ground, I told her, "frick this! Call the tree trimmers."

Sadly, that's about right I'd say.

Go buy a bucket truck, dump truck, chipper, stump grinder and a few quality saws. Now, call your local insurance guy and buy about 5 million in liability insurance with a side of workers comp. Hire you 3 or 4 quality guys who wont get your property or themselves killed. Consider how much fuel this equipment uses, maintenance etc. I don't know about your particular market, but that doesn't seem outrageous to me.

Id say your guy was unlicensed and uninsured.

Their insurance is insane.
I had a friend who did it after the storm. All he did was bitch about insurance.

Just ask rentals on Williams.

It's very expensive, but so are their insurance costs. The have to maintain their margins
