If it is some sort of tree "farm" he probably had insurance on it and it would have covered it.

I had a patient fill out his new paperwork and listed his job as a surgeon.
In the room I was excited to hear where he went to medical school and where he did his residency etc.
He says, "I'm a tree surgeon."

At one time I was contemplating becoming a tree surgeon.

Took quotes on removing a bunch of oaks from my property.
Ranged from $16k to $10k. I went with the $10k guy. When it came time to write the invoice, he asked me, "We'd decided on $6k, right?" I said, "Yep."
Seems to be a very fluid business when it comes to pricing.

Yep, the grass is always green on the other side.
I spent the weekend visiting some family and got to hang out with their friends. These people are upper middle class to just borderline rich. Funny to hear them talk about services they've paid for recently and how "those people must just rake it in". They were mostly talking about people in the construction area.
I don't think they factor in that the price those people get is ALL they get. Insurance, retirement (if any), labor, tools, licenses, SE tax, Fica tax and I'm sure there is more all comes out of that check.

worker's comp premiums almost equal to payroll. Liability insurance is sky high. it's hard and dangerous work, so you pay for it.
