Maybe mental illness isn't the correct term, but I think it has to do with how someone develops.
All fetuses start out as a female right? Then it either stays a female or develops into a male.. I just think there are times when certain parts of development doesn't balance out.
To the people who have this experience, I don't think it is an "illness". Its more of an imbalance.
And like many other things, its hard to understand unless you experience it.

It's a fetish, and the rest of us are unwilling participants in its prurient public indulgence. This is no different from someone indulging in erotic auto-asphyxiation or diaper-play in public.

No it is a mental disorder and it is not caused by development. It is caused by parents not teaching their kids proper gender roles when they are less than three years of age.

No. They start out with what is called the gonadal ridge and how it develops is based on what genes are present.

I've known people who were mentally or physically harmed by mentally ill infoviduals.

No. Gender is known as early as when it's just an embryo.
When you do IVF and they do genetic screening on embryos they can tell you the gender if you want before they even transfer it to the woman's uterus.
