The whole way we teach needs an overhaul

Not as much as you think.

If teachers could put kids out of the class and the school could permanently rid themselves of like 10-15% of the kids, the worst of the worst, things would improve dramatically.

The district my wife teaches in has money and technology and a wealth of good kids and involved parents.

Unfortunately it's a few kids and their rotten parents coupled with administrators who are spineless that throw the whole operation off the rails.

Kids are more likely to pay attention to their teacher if they are fricking them.

It is amazing how 1-3 shite heads ruin a class of 22 otherwise good kids.

Does she teach public or private?

When you say you wish you could say that is the worst thing what are you referring to? Things that are done to make the numbers look better than they really are?

Public.

Lack of discipline, lack of consequences, lack of follow through.

Once you go through the ridiculous show of writing kids up, them having no consequences, parents of the crappy kids pushing back and spineless administration rolling over to them the teacher is in a bad spot.

You just can't get rid of kids like you can in a private school.

So your kids that want to learn can't because the teacher is constantly having to deal with the same assholes over and over and ultimately nothing can be done about it.

That is why I pay for two gets to go to private school. It sucks because there is a public elementary school a quarter of a mile from my house that I really wish I could have sent them to.

I haven't seen a lowering of standards in an effort to pass more kids. If anything, school today is much more rigid and harder than it was than when I was a kid in the 80's.

That is a 100% load of bull.
