This is a video of one of George Carlin's standups.
He starts talking about education at 6 mins and 38 seconds.
How accurate is he?

Your lower half is a summary of the Education system.

Just like your fricked up eye.
People are going around blind and not aware of the obvious shite around them.

I haven't seen a lowering of standards in an effort to pass more kids. If anything, school today is much more rigid and harder than it was than when I was a kid in the 80's.

I don't care.. It makes him feel good about himself and if I can do that for him.. Then so be it..

My wife is a school teacher at a private school and she absolutely sees lowering of standards. Lowering of admissions, grading, and competency standards all around.
Also, recently LA public schools (within the decade) decreed no one can receive below a 50 for any assignment. Yeah I’d cal that gross lowering of standards

Yes. The education system obviously doesn’t work.
We have an 19th century learning system with 21st century tech.
The whole way we teach needs an overhaul.

So if there is a 4 question exam, each one is worth 25%.. If you only get 1 correct, you will automatically get 50%?

I think that's correct, but give me a minute to check your math.

If you have a paper due and never turn it in you get a 50%

the fact the OP has a HS diploma serves as a damming indictment of our educational system.

My wife teaches as well and I can confirm this.
I wish I could say this was the worst thing about this system.

Does she teach public or private?
When you say you wish you could say that is the worst thing what are you referring to? Things that are done to make the numbers look better than they really are?

It seems like kids are expected to remember way more shite for tests than when I was in school. But they don't retain as much and don't build on that knowledge. That's what comes from teaching for tests. Once they've crammed for and taken the test they forget it all.

I was putting it in its simplest form, but the point I was thinking about was.. if someone one gets 1 correct then that is what they made. Why are they given 50% no matter what?
What's the point? Is it so that really low scores are not recorded so that students don't have to climb out of a bigger hole?
