The plywood is to keep any extra grease off the floor to make clean-up easier.

I mean.. If it's cold outside...

What you want to make sure and do is to inject and season the turkey really well.
Then, throw that bad boy in the freezer again and let those delicious seasonings set in.
When you are ready, drop that frozen bird in the hot grease and the flavor is really gonna be bursting out of the turkey.

The trick is don’t lower it slowly…drop it all in at once. Flash fry it.

Indoors? What could go wrong?

put a tablecloth over the plywood and floor for added protection

Just be sure to fill it to the top with your oil. You want to make sure that bird is completely covered.
As the youngsters say these days...it'll be fire.

Preferably one of those cheap thin paper kind. That should just about do it.

Good to see the plywood on the floor, you don't want anyone slipping in oil.

Honestly it should probably be closer to the sink so if the grease catches on fire it’s easier to pour some water on it.
