re: Is This A Realistic Budget For Someone Living Off Of $2060 A Month

2060 dollars a month net is not minimum wage.
My taxes are roughly 30% (federal state SS) but I make more than MW.
I used to make 52K at my old job, 1,000 a week. Check was 740 ish after taxes.
So a net 2,060 is roughly 500 a week after taxes. So that's roughly 750 a week gross on their numbers.
A 40 hour week at 7.25 is 290 dollars gross. 1,160 a month gross. Probably close to 750 net. So if you worked 80 hours a week with 2 full time jobs, which is hard as hell to do, you'd net maybe 1500 a month.

My favorite question to ask an Uber driver is what is the worst Uber story they have....that was one of the more out there stories.
Most of the time it's just drunk idiots they say.

So...Mardi Gras this year, my wife had to put me in an Uber minutes before our crews parade. I puked all over the back of that guys headrest, and he was still nice enough to unlock my door while I puked in the potted plant on the front porch.

Unless something especially crazy happens, I can't even remember rides from earlier in the night
It always cracks me up when people are like "I bet we're the craziest ride you've ever had" and then I have zero recollection of the trip before the night is over.

eah, but what you can't anticipate for are unexpected expenses and they are always there. Example, having to replace tire(s).
They’re putting $100 away for savings.
Not saying the budget is legit or anything but the savings would be for unplanned things.

That's pretty impressive since Uber has only been operating for almost 4 years in NOLA....thats almost 1.5 Uber's everyday for 4 years
I started in September. The most rides I've done is 40 in one day (Thursday before Mardi Gras). Most rides I've done in a week was 70, coincidentally that same week. Lyft has a bonus that kicks in at 65 rides for the week that I usually went for, but I haven't done that many rides in a week for a while.

It's just interesting to me to ask the question, as long as the driver is nice. There have been times that me and the driver have not said a single word.
My buddy just signed up for Uber in Nola so i am sure I'll learn a lot more of what it's like when he starts.

No Food? I guess they eat cheeseburgers at work.
More like swiping that EBT card for free steaks and crawfish...

Here is a real budget for minimum wage with 2 jobs.
1st job 40 hours 750 a month.
2nd weekend job 20 hours 375 a month.
1,125 a month.
Buy an old beater car that runs for cash.
Subsidized Govt housing 200 a month
Liability car insurance 25 a month
Obamaphone
Cable 60 a month
No health insurance use emergency room
600 a month in food stamps
Spend rest on newports, weed, gas, and colt 45

He'd make more doing Lyft, if he cares about such things.

We should all post our expenses

I've done almost 2000 rides in NOLA, mostly late night downtown. Maybe 20 trips have been anything less than perfect.
Ever been propositioned?

I know that's not a high percentage, but 20 bad trips in a few years still seems kind of sketchy.
I didn't say all 20 were bad, just not perfect

Yep. It would be a much more fun job if I wasn't married.

I will mention it to him. It kind of sounded like he was going to look to do both. As a user, I have noticed now that uber and lyft are within a dollar (for the most part) when I compare the 2 so I personally choose Uber in that case for the free $0.50 "found money" from Acorns app. If it's more than a $1 difference, I choose the cheaper of the 2.

Its propaganda.
If you got to cut off the balls of whomever put out that false description of reality, if it can be proved false, then a lot would go up.
Ha. There is one place.

No one in America can make $500 a week and have $800 "spending money" each month, and have a financed car, auto insurance health insurance, cable television, and put away $100 a month in savings. That is impossible.

New driver bonus in NOLA is $3.30 for every ride in the first 30 days, up to $660. I could pass along the promo code if he's interested.
