Desirable areas to live that would enable you to bike wherever you need to go tend to be more expensive.
Who said anything about desireable?
I said you should be able to bike wherever you need to go, read: Grocery store and Work.

I see commercials to lease stuff like new nissan sentras for $150.
With about $4k due at signing....so more like $250/mo.

Costco/Sams starts retail employees at $14/hr. ALDI around 12, Trader Joes 13.50, Nordstron, Nike, Home Depot & Lowes around 12. You can easily make $400-$500/week as Lyft/Uber driver.
Assuming 35/hr work week at Costco and 2-3 days week plus one weekend shift as Lyft/Uber I could easily pull 3500-4000/mo.
Is it ideal? Of course not. But if you only make 2060/mo its likely by choice, not by limited options to make more

Very good point. That car note makes a lot more sense if you get your Uber on.

No one is working 70 hours per week at minimum wage. That's just a fact.
Hell, I worked retail sales jobs throughout college and I was never paid minimum wage. It's mostly a myth.

I don't have a clue but I would think you can make more as a Waitr driver than an Uber driver only because of a higher ticket price. Also, you don't have to have strangers in your car.

Where's the child support payments for the 4 kids with 3 different baby mamas?

You can "lease" a car from Uber/Lyft for around $200 a week, but that includes insurance/maintenance and if you drive enough you can get discounts on it. Also there are no mileage limits, so you can use it as a personal vehicle too. You could make way more than the numbers in the OP doing Uber/Lyft 40 hours a week, even factoring in the weekly rental cost.

Why not both?
Uber/Lyft during the day, Waitr during peak lunch/dinner hours.
I'm equally clueless, but I'm sure there's a way to optimize it.

Not for someone who makes shitty financial and life decisions

No, it's not realistic IMO.
I don't think you can find a decent apartment for $600 per month. Cable/phone will be much higher, granted cable is not a necessity. I know health insurance is much more than $20 per month if not employee sponsored.

Although I take uber all the time, I would not feel comfortable having complete strangers in my truck...especially after some of the stories I have heard.

If they’re that poor they probably qualify for a huge subsidy on the ObamaCare exchange. So in reality they’d probably be paying $20 or less per month for health insurance. Also, I have full coverage on a 2016 F-150 and my auto insurance is only $103/ month.
Not saying that it’s a completely realistic list for many other reasons though.

I've done almost 2000 rides in NOLA, mostly late night downtown. Maybe 20 trips have been anything less than perfect.

Fair enough, although I think this is an appropriate time for the old adage "beggars can't be choosers"
Posted on 8/8/18 at 4:16 pm to OweO
I can’t live off of that for a week.

I'm sure the bad rides are few and far between but I still don't want puke, 2 dudes jerking each other in the back, attempting to have sex, etc in my vehicle.
