The area around Princeton is one of the best places to live in the country. The country side is beautiful. Get out of the city.

Spent 2 years there, never understood why they nicknamed it The Garden State

Campbell’s Soup is headquarter in Camden and when they started out all of their produce came from surrounding vegetable truck farms. Still a lot of farms in the state. My father worked on one as a kid in the 1930’s.

Lived and worked in the Princeton area a couple years back. Up/mid state NJ is beautiful. The meadowlands and Newark are shitstorms that are used as a dumping ground for NYC

Jersey is a shithole, but you can find ways to entertain yourself there. There are places where that isn’t an option:

Basically anywhere in West Virginia
McAllen TX
Midland/anywhere in West Texas
Jackson MS
North/South Dakota
Iowa
Michigan
Spokane
Nevada at large
Shreveport
New Iberia

Those are worse places I assure you. Yes I know New Jersey looks like Blade Runner’s Los Angeles, but that’s still preferable to the ones I just listed.

Ohio was very disappointing to me, as was Nebraska. Rude.

The road system sucks with all of those loops or “jug handles”. Have to go right to turn left. Talk about a mind frick driving around NJ.

You remind me of college roommate who pined for Brooklyn.

Northwest nj is rural uplands.
South central jersey is the largest aquifer in USA. Swampy lakes.

Coastal islands rival any for fishing and swimming.

Towns on Hudson are wealthy and kept like swiss dairy farms. Manicured and yuppy.

There are 20 cities of 50,000 in nj. Some suburbs are nicer than any in Louisiana. The two largest are awful.

Completely agree. Jersey is probably my least favorite of the 42 states I've been to.

I’ve been to every state but Hawaii and Alaska and believe Louisiana is my least favorite.

I lived in Chatham and went to a school in Morrisrown for a year of,high school...that is north central NJ It was beautiful. Don't judge NJ based on Newark

Well said, on both levels. Those who judge New Jersey based on Newark, Jersey City or most of Trenton are two things:
1) fricking stupid
2) don't worry about #1, because 90% of folks judge New Jersey that way

I spent the Summer of 2012 in Morristown, right off The Green. What a wonderful experience. Chicken lived in Chatham, which was even nicer than Morristown.

New Jersey has its problems, but if the taxes were lower and the cost of living as well, I would STRONGLY consider living and/or retiring there.
