I'll say Kentucky is one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited but the state of the state is basically similar to MS and LA. It's like a whiter Arkansas.

The metro cities are really crappy.
I remember the northern areas, as well as Morristown, the shore/coast, and the pine barrens as being okay, but demographics can change as they do anywhere.

Pretty solid ranking of the Midwest, though I'd flip Wisconsin and Minnesota, given that so much of Minnesotas best spots are so hard to reach and sooo far north, but the difference is pretty minimal.
Totally agree on Michigan. Whole state gets a bad rap due to Detroit, Flint, and Saginaw. Western Michigan has a better shoreline on Lake Michigan than a good chunk of the eastern seaboard does on the Atlantic.

The worst people I've encountered were in Mississippi. Either race, doesn't matter. Lazy, mean, rude, and stupid.
