Nah frick that. Not any one day of missed work will ever be a priority over my children. If you don't get compensated accordingly because you missed work for the birth of your child then frick that employer

A starting QB should absolutely miss the birth if it were to happen on a Sunday

Is there anything that would make you miss the birth of your first child?
The conception of my second...

Yes, the birth of my second child.

No. I would quit if it had meant missing the birth of my kids. No job is ever that important. If I am some professional athlete, my wife would be inducing.

It’s not that big of a deal. My dad wasn’t there for my birth and I thought he was the greatest dad anyone could have.
I'm sure this girl thinks her dad is the greatest too. Doesn't mean he's doing the right thing.

Sorry, but inductions aren't done that routinely especially because of a parent's schedule.

I am a regular Joe so there is nothing for me to make me miss the birth of my child. I stopped travel for work starting at eight months pregnant through two months after my first was born.

My wife’s cousin married a professional baseball player. He missed the birth of his first daughter to play in the playoffs. He told his wife, “we can have more kids, I might not ever get to play in the playoffs again in my life”

While I agree with most of your post, forme being able to say I was there is important. Some things in life can’t be duplicated.

That said, is there anything out there in your profession that would cause you to miss the birth of your first child (or any of your children for that matter)?
I’m not a professional athlete. I do love sports and can empathize with the decisions they have to make. However, being in that room and holding my children were the three most life affirming days of my life. My purpose was made clear...I’m just here to love them. I had more clarity being a part of those births than any other moments in my life. I’d not miss it for anything.

I agree it is important. But not being able to be there does not make you a terrible father.
The mother may be a little upset.

It’s the Bristow S92 from the Deepwater Horizon film. I love the Sikorsky choppers.
