The crime is about to get really really bad in Orleans Parish. 2021 will be the worst we have ever seen

Build more prisons

Why aren't we crying for Alexandria?
Because no one cares about Alexandria. Barely anyone even thinks about Alexandria.

It’s cute that y’all think a new mayor fixes anything. Trump could be mayor of NOLA and there would still be crime.
It’s also cute that so many non-NOLA residents have such insight to the city. Maybe y’all should move here with all of your brilliant ideas and make it better.
I agree, the problem is bigger than the mayor. But the mayor selects the police chief and budget so the position does hold significant influence over the crime situation. Look at Giuliani and NY now. Big difference. Mayor played a huge part in where they were then, what happened, and where they are at no.
As far the non-NOLA residents and our opinion, my comments above were more about the State of LA not NOLA specific. I never lived in NOLA but spent 42 years in Baton Rouge. The same problem is slowing sucking the future out of both cities.

So NYC was the same under Guiliani and DeBlasio?
I don’t know because I don’t live in NYC and I didn’t live in NYC during their terms. See how that works?

I'm not apologizing for choosing to keep my tax money out of the city as much as possible by living elsewhere while I work downtown.
No need to. You live in the region and work in the city. You're invested in NOLA, and tied to its fortunes, whether you like it or not. Complain away.

It makes you look like an idiot, but Ok.

I never said I wasn't. You're the guy that said the ones complaining don't live here and that somehow invalidates their opinions.

Well I never lived in Germany or Poland but I know Hitler tried to exterminate the Jews. See how that works?

Turn these green dot areas into Green Space. You'd have a liveable city.

There needs to be a spinoff thread.... “How do you fix people when they’re broken?”

It will not be even close to the mid-90s. But, the constant circle of arrest, no bail and arrest needs to stop. More community policing like Pennington did would be a start.

Yea, that kind of hyperbole isn't helpful at all.

Serious question
NYCs fall in crimes aligns almost exactly with overall national trends
so how much was Giuliani and how much was overall cultural shifts as a nation as a whole?

Is crime the only factor to consider?

My point is that whether or not Deblasio or Giuliani were good for NYC totally depends on who you ask. Just because you think things in NYC were better under them, doesn’t mean they were. You presumably didn’t live there, so how would you know? Stats can be construed to support either side of the argument.
I live in NOLA, I don’t like the mayor and certainly won’t be voting for her, but I’m not naive enough to think she alone is the problem.

Its what we are discussing in this thread, no?

I'd rather just look at objective metrics instead of asking people.

Pretty sure no one is saying that. But to pretend the mayor has no influence is idiotic.

Not the comment I was replying to.
Since you apparently couldn't follow, here's the comment:
