I don't care. Deal with it.

Besides, I use Libre.

Yep, my 7th grader has been learning it all year out here. No pivot tables obviously.

I dislike Excel "experts" because a lot of the complicated shite they take pride in seems to be a better use of a database with SQL, or by data sets and sheets that aren't trying to do too much at once.

I figured. We get some young engineers that can do Excel in their sleep.

Agree on the "experts". I also work with engineers that get their jollies creating the most complex Excel sheets that are hard to modify and just don't need to be that complicated.

I don't think the OP is the flex he thinks it is.

In my experiences the higher up the position, the less technically savvy they are with tools like excel.

Interns and low level analysts are the keyboard savants.

The OP would but he's clearly insecure about Excel becoming a dinosaur. It already is and the salaries reflect that.

Why run shite manually in Excel when processes can be run in DBT on top of Snowflake/BigQuery and ready to be automated with reporting in either Streamlit apps (open source) or Tableau?

Nice baw. Can you start an Excel help thread for us old fogies who have jobs too important to worry about learning pivot tables and macros at this point?

there is nothing more frustrating and soul crushing than someone asking for help you have to watch them struggle to do things as simple as filter data or copy cells down. What would take me seconds, I have to sit and watch for 15 minutes for them to do.

If you're not using a function all-day everyday as part of your job, it's quite easy to forget something or not be up-to-date with changes to a program.

My problem with excel is, it’s a powerful tool but for basic shite there should be a dumbed down mode or something. I will sneeze and erase a formula somehow and the insert copied cells feature shouldn’t make you re copy every time and should store it on clipboard. Just examples of annoying shite.

Are you too retarded to do a screen recording of yourself doing this simple task and posting it in your OP?

On the plus side, I can finish the shite I need to do in 20% of the time and do whatever I want in the remaining time while they’re putzing around clicking on single cells.

It’s the one thing I didn’t like about Alex. Was so condescending stating the answer when no one got it right. Like he knew every answer and everyone else is dumb for not knowing it. Would have been nice if he had been a contestant and see how he did then.
