Is there anything more frustrating than watching someone fumbling through Excel?

I’m a national resource for Excel and another software we use called Alteryx, and there is nothing more frustrating and soul crushing than someone asking for help you have to watch them struggle to do things as simple as filter data or copy cells down. What would take me seconds, I have to sit and watch for 15 minutes for them to do. I just want to push them out of the way and get it done.
It’s mainly older people but it’s unfortunately not age restricted. I learned the shite on YouTube, it ain’t that hard, learn to use the damn keyboard.
On the plus side, I can finish the shite I need to do in 20% of the time and do whatever I want in the remaining time while they’re putzing around clicking on single cells.
It’s 2025, excel has been around for decades, there’s just no excuse for this shite

If you don't know, you don't know. You can't fault people if they haven't been taught or trained.

I had to use a Mac for a decade and had to use Numbers....then going back to a PC switching jobs I had to get used to Excel, again, and had forgotten some of the tricks and updates. Probably not to the level you are refering to, though.

Imagine going to Australia for a month and not having the social skills to enjoy it. Rather, you bitch about boomers trying to figure out auto sum on Excel.

You would find me to be frustrating.

What’s funny was when I was in public accounting about 10 years ago, I was struggling to keep up because I only had “slightly advanced” excel skills. When I went into the private world, I was blown away with how bad people are with excel. Actually watched someone use a calculator to add number in a bunch of cells then input the results into the Total cell

The first time I went to Bahrain in '01 for the Navy there was a petty officer who put numbers in the cells then added them with a calculator. She had no clue the program would do the calculations for her. She thought I was a genius when I showed her how the program actually worked.

I work in financial services, started my career as an actuary, and know more excel than anyone I know.
Watching others use excel is like watching my grandparents program their VCR.

I had like 8 posts between 1/1 and 1/6 so I find that nearly impossible. Thank you for your concern though baw. Hopefully you know how to use cntrl+shift+down, really basic stuff

I consider myself pretty handy…
=CONCAT
=DATE
Data>text to columns
Etc…
Ctrl+shift, right arrow, down arrow is a game changer if you have 37,000 rows.

"Soul crushing" because someone doesn't know Excel as well as you do?
