A girl at work is one. If that happened at my time, somebody is going to get fvcked in a tent.

I guess no other "men" were volunteering to do it.

You should volunteer to be a boy scout leader. You seem like you can teach kids a thing or two.

My mom was our Tiger Cub leader when I was in first grade. This was 20 years ago or so. Our troop was based out of Gulfport on the Naval base. Everyone’s dads were gone 6+ months out the year so I guess it made sense and we didn’t think it was weird at the time.
Edit: moved to Norfolk as our next base and had an older woman leader there too until I crossed over into Boy Scouts from Cubs. Mrs Lisa was her name, she passed away from breast cancer 3 years ago and at her funeral 30+ guys she led as young kids showed up and a few stood up to say how much it meant that she stepped in while our dads were gone to bring us camping, etc. Not a dry eye in the room...

I guess it shouldn't be across the board no moms. I'm sure there are exceptions.
I was asked me if I got the "32 degrees patch?" Wasn't really thinking but I said and it's true probably a quarter to half of camp outs were around 32 degrees. We just delt with it. It wasn't a merit badge. That did not exist when I was there. BSA is weaker these days. They will soon let transgender in. Most likely because of a lawsuit.

So teen scouts can have a female scout leader?
Short answer is yes.
Traditionally women were Den leaders for cub scouts then men took over for Webelos and older. Now women are indeed Scoutmasters in quite a few troops. Ultimately it is a result of the need for Scoutmasters that men are simply not meeting. It was hard to find Scoutmasters 25-30 years ago and only harder now.
frick off. My mother is a scout leader. And is a complete badass.
She’s a rifle, shotgun, and archery instructor. She’s been white water rafting, rock climbing, and on four or five 10-day backpacking treks at Philmont Scout Ranch. She’s also a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. Simply put, without her involvement, I’d not have had the amazing experience I had in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.
I’ve been out of scouts for 17 or 18 years now and she’s still actively involved in all of the above.
Maybe the female leaders you know suck. But don’t try applying a blanket statement to all female leaders.
