Is there any reason to turn off your car when you fill it up with gas?

Do any of y’all leave your car running while you fill up with gas?

Only time I turn it off is if I go into to the store, and I leave the pump running.

No, smoke em if you got em..

Nah, zero chance of spark or ignition in an inflammable environment. What's the worst that could happen?

I didn’t today, nothing bad happened.

By myself? Leave it running.
Go into the store? I'm not an a-hole, so I wouldn't let the pump run with me not present.
People in the car? Turn it off. It's technically a hazardous area, and though it's highly unlikely anything will happen, it's not worth the risk.

Not worth the risk to keep the vehicle running.

Nope. Been doing it 20 years. Never turn it off. Never will.

I always turn mine off and lock the doors. It has nothing to do with the very slim chance something may go boom, and everything to do with a crackhead getting into my car and refusing to get out while I was pumping once.
He didn't steal anything, and was quite pleasant. He just wanted a ride. I didn't give him that ride.

Depends on the weather. I leave it running if it is super hot or cold. I also leave the pump running when I go inside. No Fs given.

DW did and the shutoff was broken. The fire department had to be called and it cost us $85 in gas. Don’t leave your pumps unattended.

But what is the benefit?

They get to act like hard asses on TD when this subject is brought up.

I dunno, pressing that button to turn my car on and off is so damn hard I might have to try it out?
Posted on 6/12/20 at 4:47 pm to thadcastle
If I’m by myself I’ll turn it off. If I have the family in the truck and it’s hot outside, I’ll leave it running for the AC
