Do you keep the TV or radio on for her? That will help drown out some of the noise that dogs can hear further away. Obviously don't put it really loud, just at regular volume.

With that said, my neighbor has a dog that gets anxiety when riding in a vehicle and when they go on road trips, they have to give it to her so there is something.

Yes there is actually. Our mutt is on a twice a day pill for her separation anxiety. Like night and day. She's not bugging the neighbors anymore when we leave

So that's how you get your supply? I could hook up up with some docs, that will take care of you.

My lab has severe anxiety triggered by the weather, especially thunderstorms. It is just getting worse as she gets older. If we're home, we will let her in the utility room until it passes. Today, though, we were all at work when the thunderstorm came, and I got home from work to find my front door severely damaged by her trying to get in. Is there something that can be given to her to calm her in these situations? It's out of control.

My foxhound has the same problem. The vet originally gave us the dog xanax but it didn't help him.

The vet gave us a new prescription for Sileo. It's much more affective. I give him the dose for a dog less than half his size and it calms him down a lot.

One mg per pound of dog.

Each generic tab in 25mg. More than enough for my 35lb dog.

the dog would have to live on anxiety pills in case it storms. provide an open garage or doghouse.

I prescribe a lot of Trazadone for dogs. Works within 90 minutes. I have good feedback with that product.

Yep we use half a tab wrapped up hidden in half a slice of cheese. She likes it and sleeps good.

We have a thundershirt for our rescue dog. She hates thunderstorms and it actually works really well.

The vet has given my Chihuahua trazadone for when we need him to relax. It works well.

Yeah, they have dog Xanax that they give for situations like that. It basically just knocks them out

Just explain the storm thing to the vet, it's not uncommon. It's not something you give them daily though so it won't do much good if nobody is home and it storms

Yep. Our last dog had horrible storm phobia and she would destroy stuff if nobody was home. The vet gave us valium for the dog, which was the same drug as valium for humans. Like you said though, it only worked when we were home during the storms.

You keep your dog outside all the time? Trashy as frick. You might as well go all out trashy and just chain it up.

These fraidy cat dogs are like peanut allergies and hot teachers screwing high school boys.

They're real, but I never saw such dogs when I was growing up. Where did they come from? Our dogs were never scared of thunder, fireworks, or even gunfire.

Please have them spayed or neutered to keep from passing on this negative trait.

You have a breed that has anxiety issues and requires a dominant hand. My brother, though he's great with dogs, didn't have time to train it. His now ex-wife raised the dog and just didn't give the dog what it needed.
