Square it up, forget the angles and add 15% waste.

Now if you can get that app to carry the wood upstairs and nail it down you are in good shape.

The apps use your camera to map out the room but it has to guess the dimensions based on perspective.
There's one that uses the iPhone's accelerometers to determine where the phone is - you move it from wall to wall and it computes the dimensions based on your movement.
RoomScan, I believe, is the name. Anyone have any experience with it?
ETA: YouTube of app (from producers).

Make it all squares so you have extra. You'll end up fricking some pieces up. Bring back the extra

The laziness/lack of knowledge is astounding with this one.

I'm having to redo hardwood floors that flooded due to my Hvac unit. I measured it and estimated the amount of hardwood needed. You want to be over anyhow.

There are a lot of weird angles in our upstairs. I understand how to do square footage, but was asking if there was an app
Just imagine everything as squares and don't worry about exact measurements, then reduce your waste percentage. You will have to cut the boards to fit so you won't be able to buy exactly the amount that you need

What the hell is an app going to do?

Because length times width is challenging?
