did you even read the OP? I said I like gumbo. But the reaction people have to someone even suggesting it's overrated is what drives me nuts. you and the rest of the peasants in this thread who have their panties in a bunch

Funny, I don't remember anyone else making a post about it either way except you. There is also a board for things like this.

Hell, I love steak and fried chicken and if you don't like that? Who gives a frick

You’re obviously doing it wrong. Store bought box gumbo Isnt real gumbo.

Please tell me what you consider to be a non-overrated meal?

There is a reason we only cook turkeys at home once or twice a year.

Well, that's an interesting take on gumbo since it was made for poor people by poor people. How much does flour, lard, rice, onions, okra and bell peppers cost?

Is it kind like how people were tricked into eating cockroaches out of the ocean and calling lobster a delicacy.

There is nothing worse than an average gumbo.

There is nothing better than a good gumbo.

That would be steak.

Look I love steak - But I don't think I've ever had a steak I couldn't probably cook to perfection myself. The prevalence of steak houses is weird because that's an expensive food that I can EASILY do correctly at home. I do not get people who get steak out.

Get the the more complex dish, or the seafood you can't get nearby. Or get the unique meat. But steak? Boring.

A good gumbo? That's pretty rare outside of the South or a Louisiannne's who moved out of the state's house. Gumbo is awesome.
