Most went semi legit and now hold public office, run alcohol or industrial distributorships, work as contractors for big real estate developments and government contracts, work as bookies, or are in management with unions.

Today's mafia isn't what you see in Donnie Brasco or Casino. There was a time when there wasn't really that big of a secret if someone was in "the mafia". People who had ties to them were not as open about it, but those who were on the bottom (soldiers), they didn't do much to hide what they did. And they did whatever they needed to do to get whatever amount of money the person above them needed to give to the boss.
Now, "the mafia's" money is "cleaner". Do they report every dollar that is made? I can't say they don't but..

Yes.. When I use to work for a parish gov department in college, we had to work with WM at times.. They are a really good company. Donaldsonville use to have a good bit of mafia connections. I am not saying anything, just take it how you want.

No, but if the mafia in cities like New Orleans, Detroit, Philly, etc. is nearly extinct, logic follows that there isn't jack shite in Donaldsonville.
