Those towns are ok but don’t have a ton of character. I’ll take lake Charles / sulphur over those any day.
What culture could Lake Charles and Sulphur possibly have that the Golden Triangle doesn’t have?

Lake Charles isn’t Lafayette but it still has some Cajun charm.
Do you even contraband days, baw? Sorry, I mean Rapey Pirate Festival.

Absolutely not
It’s got about as much Cajun charm as Baton Rouge

I stopped at a Dairy Queen right outside of Beaumont to grab dinner while driving to Houston in college to see a friend. I saw a female in there that actually looked exactly like The Predator (1987). I like Louisiana and I like Texas, but I’ve always associated that stretch with seeing the fugliest woman I’ve ever seen.

The interstate immediately becomes wider, smoother, has more lights on the road, etc.
It only took them 30 years to do that...

That's correct if you take his statement literally. There is exactly one ton of plant baws.

Don’t know where you are from or where you’ve lived, but once you’ve lived outside of Louisiana you learn to appreciate what places like Baton Rouge and Lake Charles have to offer on the culture side, even though it isn’t the more prominent Cajun culture you see in Lafayette or south of it.

Wife is from that area, and no, it’s basically Louisiana. Worse is some ways than many parts of Louisiana. Orange is pretty ghetto. That section of interstate right over the border thru Orange was under construction for over 20 years it seemed like. Port Arthur and Nederland are basically sulphur with all the plants. Flat land with bayous and hot humid climate. Not much different.
I’ll add, it seems like no healthy food options in those areas, all chain restaurants, Tex mex and fast food. Maybe once you get to Beaumont, but everything east is basically like any other small Louisiana town.

Sounds like Louisiana without Cajun food

If you can capitalize on the economic opportunity Texas has to offer, then yes. If not, you can probably easier afford a better lifestyle in Louisiana.

Pittsburgh’s Golden Triangle is the best.

They actually have good cajun food. The people are mostly good old baws who have blue collar jobs. The towns are pitiful and offer no quality of life. Crime is not out of control but you will see a lot of ghetto there. Stayed for a few years but gtho of there

Does Barbers Hill count as Beaumont?
No. It would probably count as Houston though.
The only redeeming quality that Beaumont/PA/PNG has, is it is close to good saltwater fishing. Like super close. However it will also will get massively fricked up after a hurricane, as we can all relate. So there is that. Just like Louisiana. It also used to be really close to good duck hunting but that is meh at best now. Just like Louisiana. Otherwise place is a cess pool unless you work at a plant and need to live close.

Where are the good saltwater fishing places?

Sabine is literally right there. Then there is Big Lake and East Bay. The surf.

Wow. I was coming here to say what a shithole PA is, but I couldn’t have stated it any better than you.
Bravo!
