There was an inexplicable delay at a critical time which allowed the Germans to resupply virtually unmolested. The French had aerial recon that showed the traffic jam. The high command was just too cautious in assessment

The US sucess on two fronts has much to do with the US supply of oil. We had it,Canada had it and we were buying Mexican oil at the same time. We could develop and refine it unmolested which led to unmatched industrial power.

Our factories worked around the clock and were not subject to nightly bombing

There’s a lot of cities that made that choice

Savannah made the same decision for the same reasons when Sherman showed up.

Nice detail about this campaign. Good post.

The German air forces took control of the skies fairly quickly. I wonder whether the French Air Force had the airplanes, doctrine and numbers to carry out a destructive strike on German troop or supply columns. It is something to think about.

Russia has two natural defenses: its climate and its vastness.

You can beat them on their turf but you can't make it stick.

The only reason they’ve “kept up” with a superpower is because the superpower has basically fought with both hands tied behind its back.

You’ve mentioned something about guerrillas against the US twice that I know of in this thread yet you don’t and can’t make the claim that the US military has lost a single engagement with any of our enemies since probably the Korean War. So why do you claim that the guerillas do so well against our military?

They fought and won a 2 front war against educationally superior peoples. Rarely do you win 1 war against that opponent, but two fronts?

The French did not invest heavily in air during the inter war years despite the fact that they posessed some very good pilots in WWI. The RAF could compete with the Luftwaffe because their pilots were exceptional and their equipment comparable. Rolls Royce engines were quite the match for the Messerschmidt.

Probably. Germany’s army was supposed to be weak sauce compared to France.

I guess the French were not paying attention on activities executed by the Luftwaffe in Spain a few years before. The Germans had a 2 to 1 advantage. But the Germans had both Manstein and Guderian planning the operations. You give those 2 along with Rommel the kinds of resourcrs that the US had at their disposal, . Man in the High Castle looks plausible

You do know that Germany’s supply chain/logistics depended heavily on the Horse in the early years of the war. Even Germany did not have adequate mechanized transportation for “beans and bullets”. The was a source of serious disagreement between Hitler and his Generals. Hitler spent Marks on the Panzer, first and foremost. I just watched over an hour and a half of German footage on the invasion of Poland on Amazon, last night.
