There were only four regular checkout lines open and lines of customers extending past the aisle.

ONLY four open?

That's exactly two more than the typical Walmart.

When they went into this one post-Katrina, the only thing they found in there was a pile of country music CDs. Even the racks holding the CDs had been looted.

They're going more to self-chekout, since you can now scan booze through there.

It is commonplace at this Walmart to see fewer open checkout lines than necessary to accommodate the customers in the store. I

Yes. Longer wait in lines =more likely to make impulse purchases

No, the Walmart in Jackson on County Line Road is the worst managed Walmart in the country.

When I was in BR, I would always go out of my way and drive to Siegen.

After Katrina, the College Drive Wal Mart was an even bigger zoo than it normally was. 10 minutes to collect the items from the shelves, then you'd stuck in the check out line for 30 minutes.

They had 15-20 lanes open after the storm too, and extra stock overflowing into a roped off section in the back parking lot with a security guard watching it.

Long lines, too. Plus, half the registers are credit card only. They always have someone there directing people to the right scanners.

I've never waited more than 5 min for a self checkout register there. And paying with a card usually means I'm skipping a few cash paying customers.

What I find irritating is that the self checkouts are often offline.
Or when one does work it freaks out if you don't bag it in the manner that it won't.

Say bruh, La'keishia, La'toyia, Shaquanda, Tafreemia and their crews all needed a break. They had been working 37 minutes straight. Sorry they couldn't be there to serve you all day.

Ok, the Walmart in Gulfport isn't so much a management issue for me. It's the people shopping in there. Everyone in there is obese and very ugly trashy downtrodden looking. Also seemed to be a lot of Mexicans that would stare me down and one time there was a mexican guy that kept following me around the store. That was the end of my Gulfport Walmart trips. But I never had an issue with the checkout counter people.

The Walmart on county line, I won't go at night. It is THE rudest and sketchiest people ever. 98% hoodrats just standing around, in the middle of the aisles, pretend they don't hear you or see you and don't move. Stare you down. everybody talking loudly on their phones, giving zero fricks about anybody but themselves.

**edit to add that I have no problem with Mexican people. It was just a weird trend there that weirded me out. I would feel the same way if a white guy was following me around and staring me down in Walmart.

the best part of Walmart is the carts loaded with crap (the best is double carts) paid for with EBT...it's like a legal aisle looting spree. All you can do is stand back and appreciate the experience

This is a good question. Unless there is no one in line at a check out register, I use the self check out.

You've obviously never been to that Wal-Mart and tried to use their self check out.

It's even more of a clusterfrick, if that's even possible.
