I enjoy cold weather- in Louisiana. That 30 below crap isn't for me.

I'd take the warmer climates all day every day. Snow is fun to visit, but I don't want to live in the bone chilling cold all the time. Like others have posted, if you can find somewhere that's not the extremes of both, live there. Probably why California has the best weather.

I think 30 degrees in Louisiana is way worse than 0 degrees in the mountains. It's all about humidity.

I've only seen below zero a few times. Rarely gets below 15 here.

Usually in the 20s and 30s in winter.

The cold temperatures aren’t really the problem with living up north. It’s the weeks/months of little to no sunlight, snow and ice on your windshield, etc. It truly wears you down.

This is why people like California weather so much. It's just a shame the state is overrun with illegals and gays.

My ideal climate would be somewhere like Bend, OR. Four distinct seasons with very little extremes. I think their temps range from 25-85 throughout the year.

California weather is awesome on a narrow coastal strip about 10 miles wide.

Mid-atlantic has the best weather outside of California.
I feel lucky here in Virginia. As a kid in the deep south I was accustomed to the heat. But now I appreciate the balance of only having a couple months of humidity (was June/July this year). Was in the 80's mostly in Aug and down into the 60's at night. In the 70's here this week.

I actually look forward to one of the few snows we have here. Usually get about 10-12 inches, but not as much lately. Here it doesn't stay on the ground long. Having ski resorts within a couple of hours drive makes it fun.

At this point in my old age I can get more done outside in the cool/cold temps than having to back off in the afternoons in the 90's / humidity. That's important to me.

I’ve constantly told my family I’d rather live up north. My dad and his side of the family is from Ohio and they say I’d move back after 1 summer of shoveling snow. I don’t believe them.

When it's still icy arse cold and gloomy gray in April and May after 6 months of winter, you'd be rethinking your position. It snows in the middle of May on occasion in parts of the Upper Midwest. I've lived in both climates for long periods of time, and I don't think Southerners who never lived in icy blasting cold understand it.

There's a reason population is southward and not the other way around.

overall, i prefer the deep south's climate to the north's... but i do get a bit jealous when i see people at big ten football games (just an example) wearing long pants and maybe a sweatshirt or something this time of the year.

the late april and early may snow can absolutely crush your spirit

people in the south don't realize how different southern ohio or iowa is to western new york or northern wisconsin though. the winters are much, much different.

Colder is easier to adjust to. At a certain point, with heat you just have to deal with it.

I've lived in both. Where I live now, we have days with single digits and days with triple digits each year.

Here's what I can tell you.

When I'm hot, it's much easier for me to cool down than for me to warm up when I'm cold.

Yeah I've been in Denver for work in May and it snowed. I didn't even have a jacket

I get that a lot of people prefer cold, but from a survivability standpoint, hot is better. I will have a better chance of survival in hot climates on this planet v/s extreme cold.

I love the change in seasons. The leaves falling, turning colors, spring and everything blooming. It might sound odd, but I don't think I'd enjoy a climate that was 76 degrees all the time

Chicago winter sucks but they prepare for it and have the infrastructure in place. Same with heat down here.... we just accept the summer is gonna suck.

Personally I like the cold. Add on layers and you're good.
With the heat, at some point you just cannot survive outside for long.

Summers in the South are every bit as miserable as winters in the Midwest.
