Anyone with successful experience with Rosetta Stone?
I’m looking to broaden my language, but don’t want to waste money or time.

I’ve heard it’s the best way. What language are you trying to learn?

I feel like leaning a new language takes a lot of time.

Why would it be a scam?

I mean, maybe it is in the sense that they profit off people who never learn a language, but that's on the people, not the product.

I still haven't gotten laid by a Latina after learning Spanish, so I believe it is.

Try Duolingo on your phone first.

Plot twist, all those websites are in other languages!

I've been interested in this, too. I've done a little with Duolingo, but just feel like I don't retain it enough. It's like they throw some vocab at you, then you never see it again.

I've been debating investing in Rosetta Stone to learn Spanish, I just haven't been convinced to pull the trigger yet.

It's very hard to learn a new language when you use it in small doses a few minutes a day.

It takes kids a couple years from when they start being able to mimic what you say and when they can speak the language conversationally, and that's with nonstop immersion on a brain that is a sponge compared to our adult brains.

I downloaded the german language Duolingo. After one 10 minute lesson, they congratulated me for being 8% fluent in German

Not a scam. 100% works (for me at least).

It’s on the person

I got French for my wife about 5 years ago

There was an option of the discs or a subscription service for a year

I’m glad I went with the discs since she hasn’t opened it yet.

I worked in Italy so I got the Italian version Rosetta Stone. It absolutely helped me. But it really helps having someone to practice with.

DuoLingo is the way to go. It's free too, so that will save you a decent amount of money.

I tried to learn Tagalog on the Rosetta Stone years ago. After a while, I decided to try what I learned with my mom. My mom said I sounded too formal and that no one would say that. I speak Spanish and French as well, so I tried to see if it was similar with those Rosetta Stones. I found that to also be the case.

I also didn't find a lot of the material to be practical as well. You're hardly ever going to use sentences like "the clown jumps" or "the sky is blue." I think finding music on Youtube and reading news will help you learn quicker than the Rosetta Stone.
