We haven’t stopped dining out and other activities in Orleans Parish completely but we have cut back a lot. Going out tonight for dinner with the wife and sticking to Metairie instead.

Jefferson Parish needs to recruit some New Orleans restaurants to Metairie. Issue is… lack of real estate.

In new orleans, hell yeah. I used to like to take my kid to the aquarium and zoo, among other things. that won't happen again.

We used to make a couple of trips a year. At least 1, usually more, Saints games. Have not been back since Covid and don't plan to anytime soon unless the crime rate starts to significantly drop.

I last saw New Orleans in my rear view mirror after finishing dental school in 1995 and swore I would never return. And I haven’t.

Well the hotels/restaurants are not getting my mardi gras money anymore. We have only been to the city once since 2020 and we used to visit frequently as well as stay for mardi gras every year.

My wife is from New Orleans and hasn't missed a Mardi Gras in her life. Last night she said "I don't think we're doing Mardi Gras this year." It's just not worth the headache and risk.

Yes, in the sense that we moved the frick away from there last spring because of it with no plans to return to that shithole city or shithole state.

Before we moved, I worked in the city and didn't spend a dime there for years. No gas, food, whatever. I got a few of those camera tickets that were used for kindling my fire pit that I have never paid and will never pay.

My wife and I used to travel to NO for a weekend at least 2 times a year. It’s probably been 2 years since our last visit. We will not return until things drastically change.

Me too.. I have family that live uptown and are die hard uptowners.. They will defend their area to the end.. When we talk the subject of the crime has been avoided after a few heated discussions.

Been wanting to plan a trip down there but after reading the articles you guys post I'm not sure I'll ever set foot in NOLA until drastic changes are made.

It’s obviously impacting NOLA, it’s in the death spiral phase. Unless Biden bails in out in the infrastructure you can tell the city will lose another 100,000 in population next 30 years.

Look at the sinkholes and lack of trash services. The city is acting broke to fund basic services with its existing and contracted services.

My parents don’t go downtown to eat anymore. They stay out of the city. They used to go weekly. I’m sure they are not the only ones like that. It’s definitely affecting businesses.

We used to go about twice per year too but haven't been in about 5-6 years at this point. The stuff we used to do, bars, concerts etc just aren't that appealing to us anymore and I'm not driving 130 miles to go to a restaurant.

Throw in all of the vehicle burglaries and crime and it becomes even less appealing.

Nola is never, ever going to get better.
There is no white knight or super politician or police chief or policy that will change the engrained culture. Ever.

How did New York right it’s wrongs in the 90’s? Wasn’t it a shite infested hell hole before Juliani?

Vegas and New York and both good examples of cities that turned things around with drastic culture changes.
