Damn took like half a page to bring up the 90s. You're slipping, Nola apologists.

We left Lakeview mid year 2015 and moved across the lake. The high taxes and lack of basic roads plus the combination of worrying about the wife and kids getting jacked in the driveway did it for us.
This dude gets it. We're looking to cash out and head across as well.
It's not going to improve anytime soon. The tax base can't sustain anymore increases when you get absolutely nothing in return. The inmates run this asylum. If its not for tourism its lights out here. We're resided to the fact that weekend visits where we pop in and out is the way its going to be.

I walk the streets of New Orleans every night past midnight and I've yet to run into a problem

In Lakeview? In 2015? Are you kidding?

Yes. It is also sinking 1 inch per year,so it will eventually take care of itself.

I haven't been to Nola for along time. But in the 80's I spent a shitload of time there. I was working offshore 10-5 and would spend all 5 days just hanging out drinking and smoking dope. Never felt unsafe. I now have zero desire to go just to walk the French quarter.

Is there a place in the country where crime never happens? Not once?
Posted on 4/13/16 at 3:46 pm to NIH
I don't really know how I've managed to make in this city for over 40 years to be honest. Maybe I'm just lucky? Or maybe I'm just not a dumb frick that puts myself or my family in avoidable danger.

Lakeview Carjacking: January 2016
Well one whole carjacking is reason to pack up and move.
Using actual facts instead of your ignorant, persistent bash everything NOLA related quips,

A couple of recent WWL-TV stories highlighted a new crime prevention group in Lakeview, formed in response to a perceived uptick in crime in the neighborhood. This presents a great opportunity to see if perception matches the data. My analysis shows that while crime in Lakeview has risen relative to 2014 levels, crime in the neighborhood remains below its average from 2011 to 2013.

I wish I cared as much as you about a city I don't live in. I don't thjnk I've seen a thread about New Orleans without you.

Yep. The car break ins, home burglaries and the general just getting raked over the coals to pay for imenities that we didn't was not worth the risk anymore.
I swear it's amazing how much brush back we get for taking ourselves out of a situation that we no longer wanted to be in from people that are determined to stay. Like its a slight on them. We just want to minimize our association with certain types of people that for now the N. Shore allows. I'm sure at some point public transportation will be allowed in Mandeville and Covington which will then necessitate more apartment complexes being built and some of the same problems will creep across the causeway.
