We just want to minimize our association with certain types of people that for now the N. Shore allows. I'm sure at some point public transportation will be allowed in Mandeville and Covington which will then necessitate more apartment complexes being built and some of the same problems will creep across the causeway.

Veiled racism and bullshite aside, you're an idiot.

Relative to the rest of the city it's very safe.

No fear. I jog between 8 and 10 PM few nights a week and I go out to see bands multiple times a week. Haven't been robbed or anything yet. I am aware and use caution but not scared.

I don't spend anytime in Central City, NOLA East or St Roch. Think I am ok

For someone who loves statistics I'm surprised you'd ignore the obvious one

just give it time danilo, just give it time... you'll be crying like a baby when your jogging shoes get robbed straight off your feet at gunpoint.

I believe Lakeview has a lot of problems with troublemakers just roaming the streets at night and into the early morning breaking into cars, which could lead one to believe a car jacking could also be possible.

I currently live uptown and saw the below video posted to neighborhood message board. It's a group of about 8-10 individuals just roaming the streets breaking into cars pretty early in the night. People are often walking their dogs around this time at night and problems could definitely develop if you were to run into a large group like this.

Every time I go over that canal on REL right before City Park, the shite in my truck bed flies in the air. Infrastructure is failing

Old Metairie has a similar issue. The roamers are just looking for unlocked cars, or low hanging fruit. At least in Old Metairie. Haven't seen vids for uptown.

Well that video is racist, and besides, what nice residential area of any city doesn't have bands of black youths loitering on the streets burglarizing cars?

I made the move to Mandeville 15 years ago and never looked back in regards to residence.

I used to go to the Quarter almost every weekend during the 1990's and rarely heard of a problem. The record murders were amongst those in the drug trade. Now, it spills over more often to the tourist areas. When I'm in the Quarter now, I am far more vigilant about my surroundings and who is walking within a block or so of me.

I'm sure that has nothing to do with being 15 years older. And how many times have you seen anything that worried you?

Rednecks cant get past their obsession and fear of blacks long enough to enjoy either.
