Yeah, as a kid I sneak peeked watching Benny Hill, but only for the boobs.
Python was where i went for the humor.

If you have a love of twisted and dry humor unafraid to poke fun at anything and everything, the answer is YES.
If your humor is more 3 Stooges, Will Farrell, and fart jokes, the answer is NO.
Monty Python found a way to use copious booze and drugs to find the middle ground between lowbrow and highbrow humor. A similar comedy stream in Merica would be the Harvard Lampoon which morphed into The National Lampoon, the 6th highest magazine subscription in Merica behind the like of Time and Playboy. The Lampoon would spawn shows like Saturday Night Live and the movies Animal House and Caddyshack. Did you find any of these shows or movies funny?

I’ll always be blown away by how popular that movie/show is. They made us watch the movie in high school and it was beyond the highest levels of cringe I could imagine. It was deeply uncomfortable and upsetting.
First, there are lots of Monty Python movies, so your reference to THE movie is confusing.
Secondly, I can sorta get how some people don’t find them funny, but to say that the watching experience was “deeply uncomfortable and upsetting” is bewildering to me.

Well that settles it.
Tonights activities shall include getting completely "Pissed" and watching Life of Brian and the Holy Grail.
I suggest you all do the same.

There are some funny moments.

I grew up with everyone telling me how they are comedic geniuses
It's the British accent. Americans automatically give Brits a couple of more IQ points because of their accent. I can't explain why.

Death of Stalin was great.
Criminally overlooked is Ripping Yarns, which stars Palin and Terry Jones.

In a word..yes. They are the funniest comedy group ever known to man, and The Life of Brian is probably the funniest movie ever made.
No other group could mix slapstick and gross-out humor with intellectual, high-brow humor like they do. If you can watch the soccer match that pits Greek philosophers vs European philosophers, and you don't get the references, then their humor is probably not for you.

I started to post it earlier in the thread. The problem for modern audiences is that if you don’t actually listen closely and pay attention, you won’t get anything out of it.

It isn't for everyone...i think it goes over many people's heads. Some need more low brow humor like dumb and dumber to be entertained.
I put Whose Line Is It Anyway in this category also. Years ago, the show was on at a gathering of about 30 people at someone's house and It was literally 50-50---half were laughing hysterically and the other half were quiet and like "WTF". I hated that show, but I can see where others would find it funny, I suppose.
