It’s very British, obviously, humor.
this. there's a lot of people that watch the British Office and thinks it sucks.
I love it, but I like both brands of humor. my wife doesn't like but can chuckle at some of American office but absolutely hates the British one.

I grew up with everyone telling me how they are comedic geniuses but when I watch their stuff it just seems absolutely retarded.
Is everyone else wrong?
Or is it time to look in the mirror?
At least you’re capable of embracing the process of discovery.

I think it’s funny, but people tend to overreact to it positively or negatively. It’s absurdist humor and some people just don’t like it. I love it, but I never need to hear the “elderberries” quote again. Ever.
Some of y’all need to chill.
On the other end, if you can’t find one single thing that they do that’s funny… it’s not them, it’s you. They are funny.
this is the best answer

Part of the deal with Python is that they were subverting expectations of both British society as a whole and British television / comedy in general.
Doing things like running credits in the middle of the show or quitting sketches in the middle once they ran out of steam was novel at the time. Now it is a Family Guy cutaway gag.
IOW, so influential that it has lost a lot of spark simply because it is now so imitated.

John Cleese was hilarious in Fawlty Towers.

Precisely. Much like Rick and Morty is crude but clever

I like both Python and Ted Lasso. Sometimes you can consume entertainment just to be entertained.

All of these snobbish, intellectual and sophisticated posters probably think Woody Allen is funny, also. You unwashed just don’t get it.

Is Beavis and Butthead funny? It is to me. Not to everyone.
There are many Monty Python fans...in my experience they trend nerdy.

Cleese is hilarious. I think Michael Palin is equally as entertaining but hasn't near the exposure that Cleese has enjoyed since the days of Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Yes, because if anything is emblematic of "high brow humor", it's definitely entertainment in the vein of Monty Python and Benny Hill
It was unique humor at the time, it hasn't aged well. How do you define "I fart in your general direction" as high brow? It's nothing but obvious, slapstick humor whose legacy is based on its cultish fan base rather than being anything considered even remotely funny in 2025.

I'm shocked. Never thought I would find one of you people.
Python is satire heaven. Most of what I say should be read in John Cleese voice.

I'm a woman and they are funny enough.
Compare them with "That was the week that was" and "Laugh in"

It just means you're not smart enough to understand the socio-political commentary interwoven throughout their sketches.
