The ABC, NBC, and CBS of the world used to be the leader in quality weeknight prime time content. Has all the streaming services killed the major networks outside of local news and sports?

Last night at 7:00pm (a former most coveted Wednesday night spot) some rerun investigation show was on, The Price is Right ‘at night’) was on another, and then a cheesy Navy Seal training reality show with C-D list celebs held the other spot. Years ago we all huddled around on Wednesday nights for Who’s the Boss followed by Growing Pains.

The wife and I decided to switch over to Netflix and watch some overblown, far fetched action movie staring Cameron Diaz who looks nothing like Cameron Diaz anymore.

Will Trump make TV great again?

I believe those are insanely popular. Aren’t there multiple variations of those that have been on for like 15-20+ years? Maybe most shows are out of season.

I don’t watch much network TV at all. But I suspect a lot of older people still do, so the ratings are still there somewhat (more than you’d think).

Wife and I watched various Youtube videos of 90s musicians last night instead of watching a detective show on streaming as usual.

There’s just so much you could watch these days, hard for network TV to keep up.

Network tv appeals to only the elderly and the lowest common denominator these days.

i had it on the other day for probably the first time in 15 years and it was some dumbass show with Keenan Wayans(?) i think where he's like a grump grandfather.

God it was HORRIBLE. i was in the middle of something so i couldn't get back over to the TV to change the channel and i wanted to stick needles under my fingernails.

Its like a parallel world (network TV) that exists that I'm not a part of. Its all streaming or binging tv shows without commercials. i dont have time to look up when a certain tv show is going to be on to record it or make sure i'm sitting down when its on.

people still do that?

I want to know how much ABC is paying to keep The Conners on the air.

They have a crap ton of famous people going on and off that show.

I agree (along with CNN, MSNBC, etc), but where did that come from?

Just pointing them out. They're who most of the old people watch. But yes, all of the 24 hour news channels are garbage.

I was having this discussion the other day. Outside of a live sporting event or live local news, when was the last time you sat thru a commercial on network television? And other than LSU football, I even watch live sports on a 10-15 delay so that I can skip commercials.

And as network TV is driven solely by ad dollars, I can see it going away in its current form at some point in the near future.

Quality broadcast network programming died years ago. The only time I ever watch the Big 4 these days is for the occasional football game.

And I just use an antenna on my TV.

I use to love me some 60 minutes on Sunday night. Sadly, they let politics completely ruin it.

I’m not sure I personally know more than 5 people that do, but somehow these ratings companies will tell you there’s millions watching these shows. I truly have no idea

I don't understand folks that can sit in front of a TV unless there is a football game on.
