IKR? I have the two core sets and I may be fortunate that it's hard to find someone to play with

It's not a sport, it's a game. There's a board for that

A sport needs to have some sort of physical exertion involved

Unless you nerds are fighting in the parking lot after, then it's not a sport

People are making big bucks in computer game tournaments sponsored by the computer game companies BUT the Gaming Board was founded to host all of those conversations.

Is Magic: The Gathering a Sport? Yes. Arguably it is, especially when you consider that there are professional gaming competitors. HOwever, the Gaming Board is the place for ALL of those kinds of games.

Chess is different from those "Gaming Board" games for many reasons. AND the IOC recognizes Chess as a sport.

Chess is a sport

The question isn't whether it's a sport, the question should be "is it the greatest of sports?"

If you consider poker a sport, then Magic: The Gathering is definitely a sport. There's a Pro Tour, international tournaments, and massive money (fr a card game) on the line in winnings and sponsorships. Heck, ESPN2 used to carry their championships (now broadcast online via their own network).
One of the card shops in Baton Rouge has actually produced several Pro Tour players.
