No such thing as luck, just lots of dumb people who elect dumb politicians for dumb reasons like "I know his mama" or "he's one of us".

That’s what happens when you have a Governor that sucks so hard he’s pulling hurricanes towards Baton Rouge.

Well a lot of the state economic engine is based on things that are boom or bust plus when its boom we have corrupt politicians like Edwards, Perez, et al that literally steal millions away or otherwise incompetently lose it.
Any other state with a somewhat intelligent population wouldn't have elected Edwards in the first place and would of invested oil revenues into diversifying the economy. We're not "unlucky" just stupid.

Hell, if you read about the Indians that inhabited Louisiana before Iberville and Bienville came in 1719 you will discover that even they had a rough time of it. The Houmas Indians really caught the short end of the stick. Louisiana was always a tough place to live. Settlers would spend an entire season clearing a forest with hand tools in order to grow something to eat only to have it be wiped out by a hurricane just before harvest time. New Orleans would have cyclic spells of cholera and dysentery . True , other areas had it rough too but can you imagine chopping down a 6 foot diameter oak tree with only an axe in 90 degree weather while fighting off moccasins, alligators, and Indians. After I retire my wife(no pics)and I are getting the hell out of here and moving to a location I will not disclose. The Stupidity here is overwhelming.

Politics aside

Don't ask me to put politics aside when you mention this as some uncontrollable circumstance.

One oil crash

Fact is that single market economies are susceptible when those markets decline. Not a single politician in Louisiana has the brainpower or incentive (because they are corrupt) to push to diversify the economy. The history of Louisiana politics is filled with elected officials putting their own interests far ahead of the interests of the public.

The state is beyond fricked and it starts with the average voter and ends with the average politician.

Make no mistake, Louisiana is what it is because of the morons who inhabit it. We are not "unlucky". Storms come and go and always have.

The disasters have always come. The leadership is corrupt. Louisiana fuels a huge segment of this Country. We are a welfare state where the welfare funds politicians.

This. And to touch on Lake Charles, the area still has a decent amount of pop to it with upcoming projects. That said, the current economy isn't helping anything coupled with a struggling recovery effort from the recent weather related events.

Part of the problem is Republicans for JBE. That wasn’t dumb luck, that was dumb people.

Are you really mentioning weather disasters as reasons for Louisiana being unlucky? The whole state is surrounded by large bodies of water in a humid subtropical climate zone and its largest city is below sea level.

Our worst luck is having "Republican" Karen voters who vote Democrat in a hissy fit because their preferred candidate does make the runoff. Hence eight years of Honor idiot.

Nephew's home had not a single shingle out of place last year. Happened again yesterday as that tornado when through his neighborhood, obliterating house 2 doors down.

People in this thread bitching about being a single economy state relying on O&G and needing to diversify - meanwhile most people on this board also cry that the government is killing industry when they try to diversify.

Louisiana is the guy from college who was always fun to be around and knew how to throw a party. However, college was two decades ago and they still don't have steady employment and act like college is still now.

It’s likened to when they championed Marc Morial to target “Gun manufacturers” in a massive lawsuit because ‘guns kill people’. It’s a way of controlling the industry.
They enabled the Saudis who control OPEC who controlled oil and gas prices to target our O&G manufacturers as a means of controlling their Lobbyists. When that crumbled because Trump facilitated energy independence resorted to using DARDAR weather technology to screw with our oil gas infrastructure and decrease Louisiana Royalties in the process. Now Zbiden shuts the pipeline off.

We send Clay Higgins, a cartoon character, to D.C. to represent us. Some of this is self inflicted.

Maybe God cursed LA. when a democrat was elected Governor. Get rid of abortion and La. will do much better. Obey the 10 Commandments and God will be pleased. Wonderful things happen when God is pleased.

Jesus Christ what a dumb take.

Not entirely! Imagine Louisiana being the only state where a marriage was between one man and one woman. Gods natural order btw. Where homosexuality was frowned upon hard, as well as shacking up! Abortions were illegal. Where truth, logic and common sense ruled supremely!..... I like it!....
