I'm not trying to prepare you for "life's toughest decisions"
I'm trying to prepare you for the ever shifting hormones inside a woman
By telling me that she could change her mind, however remote that possibility seems at this point?
Here, I'll help you help me. This is from page 14

see that is what I'm trying to help you with
the "remote possibility" is her sticking to her current beliefs, not the other way around

Anything is possibly, especially when it comes to men or women changing their minds.

Under 30 lawyer working in a lawfirm...I would say the certainty that she will want children (ETA: and be disillusioned with the legal profession) by mid 30s at the latest is 99%. Again, if not, she will become more crazy than the female baseline crazy and they will divorce.

I know lots of happy couples without kids. They tend to have more money and vacations.
We have one kid and people love to give unsolicited advice on why we should have another. I politely shut that conversation down with the quickness. It's none of their business, period.

I'm confused about people's point re: the mind changing thing. Pecker and his wife would just split up if she decided she wanted them and he still doesn't.
I mean, if my SO came to me and said he wants children now, you'd see a single LL on this website. Since when does your partner changing their mind have anything to do with your own decision? Pecker's wife is marrying a man that she knows does not want children. If she changes her mind, she can let him know and maybe he'll change his too.. OR they'll just split.
Just like if she was to decide she now liked women or now wanted to be a Jew or whatever other risk that is involved when you are committed to someone.
shite, with the stats the way they are, we all attend weddings that later end in divorce. But you don't go up to a bride and groom and tell them they'll change their mind, do ya? Our society operates around a certain level of tact.

Isnt that the point?
I mean people get divorced for far more petty and meaningless reasons than the choice of childbirth.

PEople do it here every day. And I've heard enough jokes about it IRL to make an educated guess that some people do hear that before they get married.

I'm not so sure these days

No, no... please allow people to prepare me for the inevitable mind-changing event that will occur in approximately 2-5 years. The event that will not only lead to her changing her mind, but also lead to my realizing how badly I want children.

I really can't wait for the thread you start about your wife expecting your first child.

I think the point is that men should factor in this decision on the front end.
I get the concept of "we made a pact!" but when a 25 year old woman tells you she doesn't want children, that is not something you take to the bank. The wise choice would be to enter the marriage knowing there is a chance that could come undone, and recognizing that if it does, you still want to be a part of the relationship.

Get a vasectomy now so so one tells you "I told you so."

Why do you care so much about whether or not I have children?

I don't care. The amount of cockiness in your responses in threads like these is hilarious though.
