I like watched but people get shy don't want to show them off

It’s no different than somebody dropping $60k on a pickup truck when one that is a fraction of the cost will do the same thing in a practical sense.
It’s not trashy not to care. At the end of the day an expensive watch is an unnecessary LUXURY item...just like all luxury items. But if owning that luxury item, watch, truck, boat, gun, expensive bottle of bourbon, whatever, makes you happy and allows YOU to appreciate it who gives a shite what other people think?

I bought a birth year Rolex Submariner 16800
Matte or gloss dial? The early ones are interesting to me from the standpoint of matte dial, painted lume plots and yet with the sapphire crystal. I have a 16610 that I bought in 1989. It was my first nice really nice watch. For me the Sub (either date or no date) is tGOAT of the watch world taking all things into account. I have my eyes open for the right 5513, preferably from 1968.

Matte. Pic posted a couple posts up. I love it. I’m in the market for a 16610 for my son but need to figure out how to get the right year with the random serialization.

I had someone raise their eyebrows when they knew how much I paid for my watch, meanwhile they were driving an F-250 King Ranch, in 20-30 years my watch will be worth more than that truck

Blue or Black on the Pelagos? I have given thought, but never jumped...I have a Black Bay Heritage (the re-intro with the in-house movement) and it wears big. Got the BB58 blue and the size on that one is perfect for me. 39 mm and a shade under 12 mm thick. The 20 mm lug width also suits me better as well. I still wear the 41 mm one occasionally because it so much reminds me of a very early Submariner.

Is the bluish/ghost cast of the bezel real or an artifact of the picture?
I am one of those weird people that really like the aging of the "defective" dials and bezels. I particularly like the star dust dials. I am however unwilling to pay market for them. I realize this makes me clearly susceptible to a ridiculous marketing effort...

Ya, literally two posts up, lol. Just saw it. That's a beauty. Is that your daily wear watch?

That’s exactly how it looks IRL. I love the way it. It was missing the pearl when I got it but I found a mangled bezel on eBay and got the pearl out and into this one. I know some like the missing look but it bothered me and I was able to find one that didn’t look too white or new to match the bezel look.

Yep every day. When I get my son’s I’ll rotate until I give him it to him in 18 years lol. I did just get the bracelet back from Michael Young so it’s nice and tight again.
