I don’t think you understand the vows that are exchanged during marriage.

- I, Lucy, promise to love you and respect for you and be truthful for you as long as I live.
- I, Richard, promise to love and not break the law as much as I used to I promise to be a good father to my child and to not to swear anymore or as much as I do in public places.
And I promise to love you as much as I can and as often as I can under the circumstances.

In sickness or health. Why get married if you don’t actually want to uphold the vows?

That's pretty easy to say if you're not in those shoes IMO

Having a thing between spouse and caretaker is fairly common. Friends wife had terminal cancer and he wound up marrying her after the wife died.

Yes I would. In this situation dude is especially foul for messing with the lady that was taking care of his wife.

Friend,

The fact that this is a dilemma for people shows that we are beyond a culture in decay but instead have arrived at a culture of death. As the very few lights have said, the vows of matrimony are for sickness and health. Don’t get married if you cannot remain faithful to your beloved and true to your word. Adultery is no small or laughing matter.

Sincerely,
TulaneLSU

Sickness as in cold/flu, something temporary not fricking permanent quadriplegic. At that point you aren’t sick, you’re disabled. Vows say nothing about being permanently disabled. Some of you holier than thou people need to get a grip

Cheating or not, the husband could have picked someone other than the wife's caretaker to...ahem...relieve his tension.

Depends...we lack a full understanding of the circumstances. You're assuming a lot to make this statement.

Let me clarify...what if the husband works hard and spends the rest of his time tending to his wife. During some of this time, the caretaker is over at the house and some time of the husband being home and her shifts overlap.

While over at the house tending to the wife, out of appreciation for the care or congruent personalities a bond forms between the two for a common goal. So far, nothing I have said is at all abnormal...

Then let's say the wife over time sees her husband struggling in the area of affection she can't attend to and sees that her caretaker is not only a good person but her husband and the caretaker do have a bond so the wife gives her blessing in some fashion for the encounter. This might not fit everyone's approval at this point, but I think it's understandable.

See, we don't know, from the OP, what all things were in play. Now would this technically be adultery? Perhaps. But over the years I have learned that many things do have gray areas and until you are put into the circumstances the other person you are judging is in, you might want to step back and get informed before casting judgement.

If someone is hurt and bleeding out and in tending to the injured person you run into a nearby store, grab some bandages abd other first aid items then run out the door with it...you technically just committed a theft BUT anyone who gathered all the information would completely understand why you stole the items.

Now of course there are some absolutes but many things we want to fly off the handle and judge off the surface are a lot more complex and gray. Therefore I am certainly not going to judge this man for his "affair". If someone is a straight up a-hole and cheats on his wife...different story but my point is we have to examine things like this on a case by case basis and we shouldn't just assume things from half baked knowledge.

The moral lecturing from married people who probably spend half their time on pornhub is obnoxious.

As Jordan Peterson says, “clean your own room before you start lecturing others”.
