Is it still cheating?

Saw one of those stupid Judge Wapner types of shows the other day that had an interesting case.
Dude had been married to his wife for 10 years when she got into a tragic auto accident. She's quadriplegic, can't talk, obviously no sex/dates/conversations, etc, and requires 24 hour care. Dude has stayed married to her so that she can stay on his insurance to get the care she needs.
Mother-in-law comes over to the house one day and discovers dude and the wife's caretaker are having an affair. MIL flips her shite talking about how he's disrespecting his wife.
The show had the caretaker suing the MIL for overtime pay (which is the only financial contribution the MIL makes), which is admittedly fricked up. The caretaker ended up losing.
What fricked me up is how the audience and the judge were all in this dude's shite like he was being a bad guy. I couldn't believe it. He said he still loved his wife but had to move on with his life best he could...he needed companionship.
Is the dude a bad guy in this? If your wife ended up like this while you're still young, do you follow your vows or do you find a way to keep yourself happy?

In sickness and in health. Don’t get married if you aren’t going to do it

Didn’t read. If you start it with “is it still cheating”, then it is baw.

Don’t even want to think about being in that dude’s shoes.

I’d want my spouse to stick around and take care of me but I wouldn’t want them to be miserable, either. I’d hope they could find some on the side and get it from somewhere.

I guess a threesome was out of the question ?

Cheating or not, the husband could have picked someone other than the wife's caretaker to...ahem...relieve his tension.

It’s still cheating , but wholly forgivable and understandable. The audience is just a bunch of holier than thou morons who ho themselves out on Grindr.

Yes
I also see his side of it but the dude is wrong for doing it in the house with the caretaker
Take that shite to a hotel with someone other than the person taking care of your disabled wife

I don’t think you understand the vows that are exchanged during marriage.

Bless those that care for the disabled.
Extremely difficult and virtually never ending.
