Did you make this thread just so you could say “make groceries” and show how fluent you are in old country slang?

No I just returned from the grocery store and it got me thinking. I just went for a couple salmon fillets and a brisket. Left with >$100 receipt.

Basic staples (rice, beans etc), no premium meat cuts, no booze, and fewer processed items (awful for you anyways)

It can be done and be pretty healthy

Salmon and brisket......budget busted.

Smoke a butt and get frozen cod (if your freezer is light from outings;))

Bunch of couyons here.

Make groceries is from Cajun French because the French word "faire" can be translated as either to make or to do. It kind of became normalized as south Louisiana-speak years ago. Not many people still say it except in a joking sense but we all know what it means.

No it's Cajun for buy groceries.

And they don't run over roadkill, they pass on it.

And they don't get out of the car, they get down from it.

I remember as a kid, back in the 70's, my mom saying, "I just spent 60 bucks on groceries." To feed a family of 7...

I went to the store the other day and went down the soup, canned fruit, tuna, etc aisle.

There was plenty of healthy foods there, but every damn can of Vienna sausages was gone, not one can left.

Now that's a cheap way to eat,haha.
