And an added couple of feet of surrounding concrete patio.

I'd like to see a picture of what you think 30k would get you.

Absolutely

Basic say 18 x 36 lined pool can be had for around $22,000

Concrete patio surround aint cheap tho

Can spend 15 + on your surround concrete easily

Apparently it costs that much to dispose of and fill in a pool.

The equipment rental and the materials will run you 30k.

Who is gonna do the planning and the work for free?

Yeah it is. Mine in 2013 cost about that. 18x36 + hot tub + 6-10 feet concrete around it. Pool heater and a few extra amenities.

My Dad did it. He got quoted for $75k to install the pool he wanted, said frick that and rented an excavator and dug it himself. Framed it and up and did everything himself.

Even built a few water features.

Right at $25k.
