I just want some kind of stick to check the dog if it gets too close.

I know how dogs operate and there's one I'm not sure about. It got too close behind me when I was walking a few times.

Maybe the owner will do something when he sees me out there with a broom handle and his dogs all around me when I am just trying to put a piece of paper into a receptacle on my property.

But what if the dog owner gets pissed?

Yep. I just don't want to have to deal with being accosted when I am walking on my lawn.

By those dogs being there free to roam that means:

I can't have a dog.

I can't have a garden without sheep wire put up

I can't do yard work without always having to be mindful of what is right by me (mow, edge)

I never see them out.

I think I've seen the kids out in their yard running around and playing and riding bikes...I am so jealous I can't do that without having to deal with dogs.

But also, if I go talk to the owner I have to go on their property and deal with the dogs.

I'll do it not at night one day soon if I get fed up.

I like the dogs though. They are great security and alarms and I don't have to feed them.

I feel like if I learn their names it'd be easy too. Plus the owner may have a trick or two.

Never award bad behavior with a treat, especially with a dog.

It will keep acting the way it is acting because you are essentially encouraging it.

Chances are the dog is bored and needs stimulation. Talk to your neighbor about taking him for a long walk or running him until he almost passes out.

He'll stop barking.

In Louisiana that will get you 6 months in prison, if neighbors happen to have security cameras getting a conviction is not difficult.

It is illegal most places to allow dogs to run free. Call animal control.

Find the one that appears to be the Alpha of the group. Pin it down, mount it, bite it's ear until it submits, and then rip your shirt of WWE style and piss on it. Make sure the owner see's you do this. You will the Alpha over them all at that point.

having neighbors dogs bark at you is irritating...having them try to bite you is totally unacceptable.

I would go to academy and get a can of bear spray...tell the neighbors about the issue and tell them that you haven't felt safe and that you have the spray. the next time the dogs come onto your property and act aggressively, spray the frick out of them.

I have used dog spray before and can tell you that it stops them in their tracks.

10. Nuisances:

No noxious or offensive activity shall be carried on upon any lot, nor shall anything be done thereon which may or may become an annoyance or nuisance to the neighborhood. An owner of an animal shall maintain his premises in such a manner as not to constitute either a private nuisance to adjoining property owners or a nuisance to the public generally.

These dogs chase every car that goes up and down this road, and like I said I cannot bike without getting nipped at.

frick em. They can get pissed all they want. Should done something about their dogs getting on your property.

Now if they're in their own yard, that's a different set of circumstances.

Are there no "leash laws" where you live? If there are, contact the authorities.

I've had amazing luck with hoses.

Dog barking at you through fence? Spray that fricker with the hose.

That should be the end of that.

I think before calling the cops, kicking the dog, poisoning the dog...

How about walking over to the front door, ringing the door bell, and actually talking to the neighbor and sharing your concern?! Jesus Christ people is it too hard to talk to someone?

In the time to make this thread and read the replies, the issue could have possibly been solved.
