Is it normal that my neck sounds like a ball bearing when I turn it?

I'm 34, and never had any major back or neck injuries. I've noticed over the last 10-15 years that when I turn my head back and forth, I can hear what sounds like a bearing in my neck. I assume it's the bones grinding or something, but I'd never really thought about it.
There's no pain, no inflammation, just an odd sound, like a bearing in a track.
Am I a robot?

A well lubricated ball bearing shouldn't make any sounds.

You will need to prepare that Fetzer valve with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads, and you’re gonna need 'bout ten quarts of anti-freeze, preferably Prestone.

I mentioned it to my (now former) GP, and her response was 'huh, weird'. And that was it.

Try funneling a quart or two of 10w30 into your ear. Should relubricate and solve your problem.

I have the same thing it's weird but not painful at all.

It does remind me of a loose rack and pinion. I've called 2 local mechanics already and they've agreed to take a look at it.
