No accidents, no tickets, drive only 5000 miles a year and USAA stuck us with a 27% hike. From reading the posts on here, where do you turn for relief short of moving out of state.

The tort climate makes a big difference, and in Louisiana it’s terrible. But you are absolutely correct that inflation is a big problem as well. It affects auto and home coverage.

Just got a new vehicle last week. Had USAA for the last 10 years and generally paid between $100-$150 a month. USAA quoted me over $1,250 / mo on the new vehicle citing macro economic factors for the raise. Called Liberty and was quoted $150. Pretty unreal.

My commercial policy went up 63% with no claims or tickets.
The very next month after I moved my homeowners over.
Progressive. So much for bundling.

Your claims and tickets matter less than you think they do. Your credit is a better indicator than claims, because it's a forward predictor of your likelihood to cause losses.
But build back better.

Pay for cars in cash and just have liability insurance.
Damn, why didn’t i think of that? Lol liability is most of the cost. At least with comp/uninsured motorist you have a chance of having your repairs covered. You can bet that the a-hole who hits you will be uninsured in this shithole.

heard from a little birdie that insurance companies and the parish are going to a new roof program…….your roof is going to have to be “certified” by the parish inspectors by them inspecting every step during build/change. Then the roof will have to be inspected by the parish every 5 years for a certificate. If not, you are not covered by the insurance company. I am sure the inspections will be easy to get done and won’t cost much !
Little birdie doesn’t know shite.
This post is nothing but misinformation.

I'm still paying less than before Covid.
How are your taxes, though? We moved from Louisiana to MO and our insurance went down significantly, but taxes were higher. It was pretty much a wash.

Mine went up with State Farm no tickets, claims, or wrecks. Last moving violation ticket was in 2007 for speeding.
I tried progressive, Allstate, USAA, and a few more all the same or higher.
Parents switched to American national

About Fortified homes and how they relate to insurance? No. No. He doesn’t.
I was one of the first ten insurance agents to become certified in fortified homes in America. Been a huge proponent of the program, and have submitted statements to various legislators across the south about the benefits of the program.
Your buddy is completely wrong about what he said. The IBHS (insurance institute for business and home safety) came out with various criteria to strengthen building codes in 2016. Orange Beach, AL, was the first municipality in America to adopt the standards in 2017. Gulf shores followed suit later the next year. The newer built homes, called “gold fortified”, are basically guaranteed to withstand cat 3 hurricanes.
Sally hit 9/16/20. My agency had 707 claims overnight. Less than 2% were gold fortified homes, and those were minor claims.
Fortified homes give consumers a more sturdy structure, insurance carriers lower premiums due to quality of structure, and builders offer a better product. Communities win due to lack of catastrophic damage to their area.
It’s been our experience that contractors generally buck new regulations and codes.
Btw, the cost to re-certify your home is like $170 every 5 years.
