I think my first line of defense would be to encourage my daughter to not engage in sexual activity if she's not fiscally and emotionally prepared for the possible consequences.

So yet another person advocating for the practice of abortion because they refuse to take accountability for their own actions. Unless it is a rape situation (a most are not a rape situation) the 16 year old daughter was a willing participant in the intercourse.
I have young daughters. The thought of them eventually having sex makes be physically ill. But I also know it is an inevitability. So it is my job and my wife's job to educate them as much as possible and emphasize the need to take preventative measures to help avoid pregnancy. Whether that is the birth control pill, or emphasize the importance of not having sex without the guy wearing a condom, or just not having sex at all. Are those measures 100% effective? Of course not (except the latter). But that dipshit poster is acting as if his daughter played ZERO role whatsoever in her becoming pregnant and is angry because some states will not allow "fixing the problem" on the back end.

My wife and I decided that, given this situation, we would keep, and raise our daughter, and grandchild. We were good parents instead, so it never turned into a thang.
