Is Houston the New York of Louisiana?

Houston is alright. It’s got nothing on New York, Boston, Chicago.
It has a baseball team in the world series

Houston is terrible, although I will admit I haver never been there before

Houston is the center of the world as far as petrochemical and refining technology goes. In chemicals, it is a center of indie downstream manufacturing. Ain't none of those baws want to be in Louisiana with its legal climate and local officials with hands constantly stuck out.

Because there isnt many. Which isnt exactly considered a thriving economy for a State.

No one “aspires” to Dallas.

I did this. So did several others from my high school graduating class.

I’ve always said Chalmette is the New York of New Orleans

Everyone in Louisiana aspires to go to Houston and make it big. It’s the gold standard for Louisiana baws. I-10 is like the Atlantic Ocean and Houston is Ellis Island. True?
I think your assessment does hold some water. It's like what Dallas is for Houstonians. They all aspire to move north and join us. People naturally want to move up in life.

A biz friend in Houston makes more money in Houston but would prefer to live in Dallas. He did it for a few years but still spent more time in Houston. His son recently graduated from SMU.

I think Austin/hill country area offers way more outdoor activities than Dallas and Houston combined. Plus it’s not as big and spread out but Austin’s downtown is big enough to give you a city feel.
