Traffic, humidity, hot as hell, ugly concrete jungle, complete byproduct of no zoning with ugly strip centers everywhere, high property taxes, floods all the time, plenty of illegals, English is a second language. Where is the great?
Literally most US cities outside the cool parts

No state income tax.
This doesn't work out so well for upper middle class. Property tax here will out weigh both property and income in many southern states in the US.

Houston holds the trophy for most and ugliest strip centers and has horrible traffic 30 miles from downtown worse than most major metros. Flat as a pancake. Enjoy your life there.

I always love this comment. Tell me about the cities you love and describe their soul/character.

Lived/worked in both.
Atl is far prettier as far as topography and proximity to the Blue Ridge mountains. The city center is a dump. Midtown is nice as is Buckhead.
Transportation operations are FAR superior in Houston. The ARC and GDOT has done a terrible job with planning around Atl. Houston has 3 loops……Atl 1.
Houston is armed with a cutting edge medical industry as well as a role class museums.
Sports teams are a wash but Htown does have a better soccer angle.
Restaurant scene for Htown blows Atl out of the water. Big time.
Two airports vs one.
Fishing the gulf is 45min away from Htown. I love Savannah, but the Atlantic is a haul.
As far as industry, there’s a reason more people are gravitating to Htown than Atl…….

People (like DTD) hate on the Latino culture……you mean the God-fearing Catholics who will work their asses off?!
I’ll take them 1000x over the alternative.
But, he doesn’t want to acknowledge NE Atl where there is a massive Latino population courtesy of home construction and orchards.
Oh, gotta hate the awful Texmex and Mexican food…..terrible I tell ya!

Atlanta at least is beautiful in the suburbs and has a lot of tree coverage. Houston is just the definition of a concrete jungle.

Atlanta over Houston and its not particularly close.

For the most part the people here who shite on the actual city of Atlanta haven't been here in ages or went somewhere downtown which is a legit shithole with nothing of value. No reason to even visit downtown Atlanta now with all the stuff in Midtown, Eastside Beltline neighborhoods, etc.
People from outside Georgia aren't aware of the demographic shift happening in Atlanta - both in the city core and in the suburbs. They are trending in completely opposite directions

I've lived in both cities, and ATL was miserable when it comes to traffic and airport delays. ATL is like being in a prison every day during rush hour, because you can't leave your home due to traffic. ATL ranks No. 1 in the nation in traffic and airport delays.
North GA is pretty nice, and it's great to be located close to the mountains. I prefer the Texas Hill Country and would pick Lake Travis over GA's Blue Ridge.

As opposed to the scenic rolling hills of beautiful South Louisiana?

Key to living in Atlanta (or anywhere else) is having a reverse commute. For Atlanta that means living in the actual city and commuting north or south in the mornings. It's a breeze. I've had offices in Vinings, Buckhead, and even Duluth and those morning commutes were a breeze. Coming home can be challenging depending on if there is a sporting event or a concert etc. but it's way under the average Atlanta commute. You folks that live up in Woodstock or Canton and commute into the city are insane. I can't fathom doing that.
