I never show up to a party ANYWHERE without at least a flask in my pocket.

And how would you know this?

Because I know the demographics of this place. Just because people put up a facade online and act like they attend all of this high end shite, it doesn't mean it's really happening.

If you're having it and I'm invited then yes. If I'm having it and you're invited then no

We entertain a lot and we generally always tell people to BYOB. (Sometimes we'll have a keg or a jug of Bloody Marys) We always have a lot of food and we provide mixers at our bar. My attitude is, if my wife and I are spending a day cooking and cleaning for you, you can bring your own booze. Now if a friend showed up and said "I didn't get a chance to hit the liquor store" and poured a vodka and 7 from my bar, I would be OK with it.
And when we go to parties, we always bring alcohol -- unless the host specifically says not to worry about it.

the majority of parties I go to are decidedly low rent. although they are rarely BYOB.

I always laugh at these threads. Everyone is an OT baller in other threads but frick they're not buying alcohol for their party
Of course it's trashy to throw a party and expect your guests to bring their own liquor( Within reason, like if you provide Ketel One vodka, but they want Grey Goose, well then yes, bring your own). Like I said, I offer at least all basic liquors (vodka, rum, whiskey, scotch, gin, wine, beer etc plus mixers) I also always have stuff like Kahlua & Bailey's too.
It's just cheap, as an adult, to throw a party and expect your guests to BYOB.

I have parties at my place all the time and everyone knows to bring a side dish to share and the alcohol is always provided. But half the guys bring a 6-pack anyway. I always end up with more beer at the end of the night then what I started with. The ladies love to make stuff, so bringing a dish to share is always the way to go when the parties are for families.

BTW, when you are friends you always show up with something and asking someone to bring liquor is trashy as shite.

This makes the best frozen drinks:

Whatever buddy.
Our friends host our group over at their house twice a month it seems and they shouldn't be expected to spend $500 for our drinking everytime they have us over.
They generally provide food and some beer(one friend is a VP of a distributor) and wine, but we drink a lot and don't have cheap taste.
Several of the guys and wives are lawyers and a few doctors usually show up so nobody is poor. Just common sense is applied.

We just hosted an Ugly Sweater party. We supplied liquor and wine. Told our guests if they wanted beer, to bring their own.

We provide booze for our Christmas party every year but it's limited selection. We also let our close friends dive into our our stash. 90% of the guests normally bring a bottle of wine or such and leave it as a thank you.

A bimonthly gathering is not the same as a once or twice a year more formal(as in invitations go out) party like say for New Year's Eve. I still stand by the fact that it's trashy & cheap to have this kind of party and specify BYOB if you're an adult.
